Amanda Azubuike, a senior officer in the United States US Army, has been promoted to Brigadier General.

Amanda, whose father and mother are from Nigeria and Zimbabwe, works at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

General James Rainey, Commander of the US Army Futures Command, stated that Amanda “improves everyone around her.”

She joined the military in 1994 after graduating from the Army Aviation Officer Basic Course in London, England.

Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Central Arkansas in December 1993.

In 1995, she graduated from flight school as a UH-1 pilot and began her career with the 924th Aviation Support Battalion at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia.

She served with the 3rd Military Intelligence Battalion in South Korea after completing the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course and Fixed Wing Multi-Engine Qualification Course.

From July 2005 to June 2006, she was assigned to the Coalition Forces Land Component Command in Kuwait and attended the Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course.

Amanda worked as the Chief of Media Relations and Public Affairs Operations Officer at the Headquarters of the United States Army Central Command in Fort McPherson, Georgia.

The General also worked in the Community Outreach Division of the Pentagon’s Office of the Chief of Public Affairs.

She served as Chief of Public Affairs for the Headquarters of the United States Southern Command in Doral, Florida, and as Senior Military Assistant to the Principal Deputy, Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.

Amanda has served in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and Bagram in Afghanistan.

Army Aviator Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist Badge, Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal are among her awards.
