1. Banditry: Katsina Govt. sets up committee to determine number of indigent refugees, IDPs
Katsina State Government has set up a committee to secure statistics of its indigenes that fled to neighbouring states or countries as a result of security challenges.
Alhaji Ibrahim Katsina, Special Adviser to Gov. Aminu Masari on Security Matters, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Katsina that the exercise is aimed at exploring the possibility of rehabilitating the victims.
According to him, the committee is under the supervision of the state’s deputy governor, Engr. Mannir Yakubu.
“The committee has already commenced its assignment; areas of need for assistance are being identified, especially with regards economic empowerment.
2. Flood damages houses, electricity poles as canal overflows in Lagos
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday said flash floods caused by downpour damaged several houses and vehicles in some parts of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
NEMA also advised residents and motorists in the area to exercise utmost caution as some electric poles fell due to the downpour. Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Acting Zonal Coordinator, South West Zonal Office, NEMA, said this in a statement he issued in Lagos.
The affected areas are Oko Oba, Ekoro, Akowonjo, Egbeda and Ekoro axis.
3. Warning Strike: Minister, Rail Workers’ meeting ends in deadlock
The meeting held on Saturday between the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and the Nigerian Railway Workers’ Unions over the planned three-day warning strike has ended in a deadlock.
The unions had declared the three-day warning strike from Thursday, November 18 to 20 to demand better pay.
4.  Katsina police repel bandits’ attack, rescue 11 victims, recover 38 cows – spokesman
The Katsina Police command says it has repelled an attack by bandits on Gidan Duka village, in Kankara Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, during which it rescued 11 kidnap victims in Safana.
SP Gambo Isah, the command’s spokesperson who disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen, on Sunday, in Katsina, said 38 cows and 11 sheep were also recovered.
5. Police Rescue Abducted 80-Year-Old Man In Kano
The Kano State Police Command says it has rescued an 80-year-old man, Alhaji Nadabo, abducted in Chiromawa town of Garun Mallam Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this to newsmen.
He said after receiving the report that the man was kidnapped, the command immediately swung into action.
6. Dangote loses brother in US hospital
The vice president of Dangote Group and owner of Dansa Agro-allied Limited, Sani Dangote, dead.
He was a younger brother to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
Two close family sources said Mr Dangote died at a US hospital on Sunday evening after a protracted illness.
He sat on the board of several other companies and was the deputy chairman of the African Gum Arabic Producers Association, a fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Shipping and president of the Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association.
7. NDLEA Intercepts N4.9bn Cocaine, Heroin Consignments In Lagos
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of cocaine and heroin weighing 16.85kgs and worth over N4.9bn in street value.
The spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said on Sunday in Abuja that the illicit drugs were seized at the Apapa seaport and Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), both in Lagos State by NDLEA operatives.
8. Akeredolu planning to hand over forest reserves to son, Babajide – Group alleges
A group, Ondo State Concerned Timber Merchants, OSCTIM, has alleged that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been scheming to hand over forest reserves in the state to a consultancy company linked to his son, Babajide.
The group, which raised the alarm in a statement issued over the weekend, alleged that there was a clandestine plot to carry out the plan.
In the statement signed by the State Coordinator of OSCTIM, Alhaji Olawole Idris, maintained that in order to actualize the plan, the state government had placed a ban on all forestry activities in the forests on August 31, 2021.
9. Man convicted for 3 months for driving against traffic
A magistrate court sitting in Awka, Anambra State capital, has sentenced a commercial bus driver, Mr. Henry Ujah, to three months imprisonment for driving against traffic.
Ujah was also given an option of fine, to the tune of ₦23,000, DAILY POST gathered.
Acting Sector, Public Education Officer, of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, Margaret B. Onabe, who disclosed this said Henry Ujah was apprehended by Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Anambra Command, in August.
Onabe said Ujah was, however, convicted on 12 November, 2021 after having been found guilty.
10. Unilorin Student Beats Lecturer To Coma
A 400-level student of the Department of Microbiology, University of Ilorin has beaten a lecturer to stupor.
The student, simply identified as Captain Walz, reportedly didn’t observe the compulsory Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and sought the lecturer’s help.
