NNPP reacts to alleged Kwankwaso’s defection move, says no automatic ticket for decampees

The New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP in Kano state says it is ready to welcome new members into the party.

The Chairman of the Party in Kano, Hisham Habib, in a statement, said the party would work with incoming partners in achieving the objectives of the great party.

Reacting to the news of the defection of the former Kano governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Habib said the Kano state leadership expects the national headquarters under the able Dr Boniface Aniebonam to formalise all mergers and or alliances with groups coming into the party, Nigerian Tracker reports.

“We express our optimistic vision for a better Kano and Nigeria where citizens will be given equal opportunities.

The former governor was reported to have been set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP.

The former governor will make formal declaration on the new political decision “in the next couple of days”, Daily Nigerian reports.

The outgoing National Secretary of the party, Agbo Gilbert Major, disclosed Mr Kwankwaso’s plan on the sidelines of the Special National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party in Abuja.
