Family Health advocates in Nigeria (FHANI) has said that funding has always been one major problem in the positive performance for child spacing and family planning.
Meanwhile, the group called on the Kaduna State government to release and cashback the funds appropriated in the 2021 budget for Child spacing services.
The technical Adviser of the group, Dr Suleiman Tanko, made the plea while fielding questions from Journalists at a round table discussion by Stakeholders held in Kaduna.

According to him, “Kaduna Govt has been making progress with regards to family planning service, but we are now in the last quarter of the year, but there are no funds released. This we believe will definitely affect the family; planning services in the state.”
“That is why we felt we should call the attention of the stakeholders that have one thing or the other to do with family planning. So that effort could be made, and the appropriated fund could be for the services”.
Dr Tanko enumerated the importance of child spacing to say it helps in preventing unwanted pregnancy.
He also added that lack of knowledge of Child Spacing service forced many young girls to become school dropouts.
Chairman of FHANI, Alhaji Bala Muhammed Tijjani, said the stakeholder decided to harp on the need to fund child spacing and family planning in the state.
He lamented that it had been a source of concern to them to notice a backward slide in terms of the performance of the state in regards to funding and general performance of the service.
Alhaji Tijjani, the Bunun Zazzau, said Child spacing is a developmental issue because populations ought to grow in proportion to the economy.
He expressed fear that in most developing countries, including Nigeria, population growth outnumbers economic growth, affecting many areas, including the present insecurity bedevilling the nation.
