No salary increase approval for political office holders — Presidency

The Presidency on Thursday said President Bola Tinubu has not approved any pay raise for public office holders.

“We state without any equivocation that President Bola Tinubu has not approved any salary increase, and no such proposal has been brought before him for consideration,” a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, read on Thursday. 

The statement is titled ‘No presidential approval for salary increase for political office holders and judicial officers.’

Tinubu’s efforts to sanitise oil industry commendable – Gov Otu

The efforts of President Bola Tinubu to sanitise Nigeria’s oil sector since his assumption of office about a month ago have been commended by the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu.

Speaking in his office in Calabar, Otu said Tinubu saw the need to sanitize the oil sector and deemed it necessary to remove fuel subsidy.

The Governor promised that Nigerians will see the long-term benefits of the subsidy removal.

INEC deleted presidential election results from FCT BVAS – Forensic expert

A digital forensic expert, Hitler Nwuala, told the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deliberately deleted all the results of presidential elections from the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the guise of preparing for the March 18 governorship election.

The forensic expert who was the 26th witness for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 poll, claimed to have inspected 110 BVAS devices used during the presidential polls in the FCT and insisted that all the machines he inspected had their data deliberately deleted.

Kano Assembly confirms 17 commissioner nominees 

The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed seventeen out of the nineteen commissioner nominees, sent by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The confirmation was announced during Thursday’s plenary session, presided over by Speaker Isma’il Falgore.

After careful deliberations, the House confirmed seventeen nominees, with the exception of Sheikh Tijjani Auwal and Hajiya Aisha Soji, who did not appear for screening as they are in Saudi Arabia for a holy pilgrimage, the House said.

Those confirmed include the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, Umar Haruna Doguwa, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, Ladidi Garko, Yusuf Kofar Mata, Nasiru Sule Garo, and Halilu Dantiye.

Subsidy removal: Uber announces increase in fares

E-hailing platform, Uber Nigeria has announced an increase in fares to help drivers cover the recent increase in fuel costs and inflation rate.

Uber, in a statement attributed to Tope Akinwumi, Country Manager for Uber in Nigeria said the fare adjustment is designed to help drivers cover rising operating costs and is part of the ongoing efforts to support their driver community.

“Drivers are at the heart of everything we do, and we continue to work on initiatives and engage with drivers to help make Uber the app of choice for drivers while maintaining an affordable service for riders.

“Following an in-depth review of the current fuel subsidy removal, Uber updated fares on the 3rd and 9th of June on the app to reflect existing economic conditions.
