Labour Party Knocks Apapa Over Alleged Fraudulent Judgment Against Athan Achonu

The Labour Party (LP), has knocked a factional leader of the party, Lamidi Apapa for allegedly securing a fraudulent judgment against the party’s governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Athan Achonu.

The party in a statement said Apapa and his faction are known for procuring what he described as “backdoor judgments.”

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in the statement noted that Apapa and his faction are up to mischief again by propagating falsehood, misinformation and series of black ails.

According to him, the judgment against Achonu can not stand the test of time.

Atiku’s ally dies in Abuja

Idirissu Amin, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council and an ally of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is dead.

According to family sources, the deceased passed away after a protracted illness.

Amin was the immediate past chairman of the Maiha Local Government Council of Adamawa State.

The late Atiku’s ally was a fiery politician who became popular throughout Adamawa for his amusing character.

In a condolence message, the Chief Press Secretary to Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, described the late Amin as a fearless political activist who rendered immeasurable service to the nation.

IGP to withdraw mopol from VIPs, create special squad

The acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, is taking bold steps to reshape police operations in the country.

Egbetokun plans to withdraw Police Mobile Force personnel from VIP escort and guard duties, reallocating them to more essential security roles.

In a meeting with Squadron leaders and Tactical Commanders on Monday, Egbetokun introduced his vision for the Special Intervention Squad.The squad, made up of 40,000 highly trained police officers, is designed to bolster the police’s ability to respond to security threats nationwide.

According to Egbetokun, “In a bid to kick-start the process of regaining our pride of place in the internal security architecture of our dear country first and foremost, modalities for the creation of a new special squad – the Special Intervention Squad have been initiated.

Kano governor stops salaries of 10,000 workers employed by Ganduje

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has ordered the Accountant General to stop paying the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Before it took over, the new administration had accused Ganduje’s government of illegally employing over 10,000 workers when it was about to leave office.

Addressing pressmen in Kano on Monday, the Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, said the governor had ordered his office to expunge the workers from the state’s payroll.

He said his office would carry out an investigation to ascertain the authenticity of their engagement and procedures so as to remove those illegally recruited.

Abdulsalam also said all Local Government workers who were converted to state workers by the former administration will continue receiving their salaries, but based on Local Government levels.

2023 Hajj: Kano Pilgrims converge at Muna ahead of Arafat

Kano Pilgrims have joined their counterparts from different parts of the world who came to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj at Muna since the early hours of Monday in preparation for Arafat Day.

DailyNews24 reports that this was confirmed in a statement released by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who doubles as the Kano State governor’s spokesperson and chairman of the state’s 2023 Hajj Media Team.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta played a vital role in the Gunners’ pursuit of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.
