The Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Bwari, Abuja, Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, said 331 students, including 30 with first class honours will participate the university’s upcoming convocation ceremony.
Ichoku said this on Wednesday in Abuja at news briefing to herald the university’s 10thconvocation.
He said that the graduating students included 60 postgraduates that had completed their studies and certified by the school.

“The number of graduating students from both undergraduate and post- graduate classes is about 331 of which 60 are from the postgraduate class.
“Out of all these numbers, we have 30 students graduating with First Class Honours, 151 in Second Class Upper, 130 in Second Class Lower and 50 made Third class,’’ he said.
He said that the school worked very hard to make sure it’s’ students put in their best academically, intellectually and morally.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of staff and the convocation committee to ensure a successful event, saying that a number of projects would also be inaugurated on the convocation day.
Ichoku said the projects to include male hostel, female hostel and a clinic.
He said the school had made significant progress in the past years, adding that it has not relented in its effort to meet the needs of prospective students.
“With regards to introducing foreign language courses, we are still making efforts in that direction. We are in contact with relevant Embassies which we have written proposals on sponsorship.
“ We have not given up on it and I am glad to inform you that we are receiving positive responses in that direction,’’ he said.
He listed some of the foreign languages the school intends to introduce as French, Chinese, Spanish and other European and Asian languages.
According to Ichoku, the school has 32 undergraduate programmes and 18 postgraduate programmes under Faculty of Education, Management, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering.
Others, he said, included the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Law.
Ichoku said that the school was awaiting the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval to introduce courses such as Medicine, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Sciences as new programmes in the school.
