A Karu Grade I Area Court, sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old woman, Aisha Adamu to one year imprisonment for stealing five bottles of perfumes, worth N35,000 from a supermarket.
The judge, Umar Mayana, however gave the convict an option of N30,000 fine and warned her to desist from crimes.
The convict pleaded guilty to  criminal trespass and theft.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Olarewaju Osho told the court that Heric Ibok of “Passion Trust Supermarket”, Karu, Abuja reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on Nov. 9.
According to him, the complainant had alleged that on same date, the convict pretended to be a customer and trespassed into the above mentioned supermarket.
Osho said that in the process, the convict dishonestly stole five perfumes, valued at N35,000 and hid them in her “Hijab”.
He added that during police investigation, all the stolen items were recovered from the convict.
The offence is contrary to and punishable under sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
