A suspected bandit leader, Turji who has been on the security wanted list, has freed over 70 victims in his custody in Zamfara State.

The development was disclosed by the Co-Chairman of the state Committee on Finding Lasting Solutions to Banditry, Dr. Abdullahi Shinkafi on Tuesday.

Dr. Abdullahi told Channels Television that the victims were freed by the bandit kingpin unconditionally, stressing that the development was a sequel to a military air raid on bandit camps in the state.

DAILY POST reports that the military offensives had led to the death of two other notorious bandits while others were seriously injured.

According to reports, 70 victims were released following dialogue between the assailants and some local authorities in the state.

It was also gathered that arrangements are being made to evacuate all freed victims to the state capital, Gusau, for profiling and medical treatment before they are released to their families.
