Action Democratic Party (ADP) has unveiled a gubernatorial aspirant and flagbearer ahead of the 2023 general polls.
Speaking on Sunday at his office in Birnin Kebbi, Barrister Ahmadu Zumaru said that he joined politics because “lawyers are social engineers people come to them for counselling and to report their problems; therefore to do that as provided in Nigeria’s constitution one can only be a governor or Senator through a political platform hence his decision to join politics and the choice of ADP.”
He refused to join the ruling APC or the opposition PDP because his present party shares the same ideology with him, and it’s the only party that gives a chance to youth to vie for any political post the party’s manifesto.

“I have gone through the ADP manifesto, and I realised its a party to use to vie for the governorship of Kebbi State, and with the massive awareness and huge followers we have, we can take over Kebbi because of failures of the government of the day have made the ruling party unpopular,” he said.
Zumaru, who is likely to go up against his former boss in law practice, the current minister of justice and attorney general Abubakar Chika Malami, said he has no regret contesting against him if he decides to run for Kebbi State governor.
He added that he had part ways with the AGF when he became the minister because he deviated from part of the truth.
“The ideology of human development brought me into politics than ANPP, which later collapsed into CPC and now APC, but he has completely changed since he ascended to power. He has not been legally helping the federal government as always bring conflicting law interpretation.” He said.
The legal guru promised to lift an embargo on employments in Kebbi during the former governor Senator Muhammadu Adamu Alieru, through to the government of Saidu Nasamu Dakin gari and now Bagudu to allow youth to gain employments to move the state forward.
Zumara, who jettisoned emirate rotational governorship, said that wherever a good leader comes is welcome as long as he can work for the masses. He has his support. When asked on the 30th anniversary of the state and Kebbi six years under Bagudu, he said he had done so poorly in all the sectors in the state, so nothing to celebrate.
On insecurity in the country, the ADP chieftain said governors are responsible for escalating banditry and kidnappings in the country for negotiating with them and giving them huge money. At the same time, the police and the army are left with obsolete weapons. He advocated the arming of local vigilantes to compliment what the poorly funded police and army are doing, whom he said are victims of corrupt leaders who eat monies meant to buy arms to prosecute the internal war against insurgency.
He urged Nigerians to shun money politics by wisely using their votes, saying that though masses have learned to eat monies of bad leaders and vote good ones, nobody is bankrolling him. He is using his money to sponsor himself and believes God will see him through.
