1. 3,906 escaped prisoners still on the run – Aregbesola
A total of 3,906 prisoners, who fled some of the nation’s custodial centres during various incidences of prison breaks, are still at large.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this on Thursday during the weekly ministerial briefing, hosted by the Presidential Media Team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Aregbesola, a total of 4,369 inmates escaped from the centres from 2020 till date, adding that 984 of the number had so far been recaptured.
2. Anambra decides: Umahi opens up on accusing Soludo, Gov Obiano of rigging election
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has dismissed reports of him accusing the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, of rigging the inconclusive governorship election in Anambra State.
Reports had it that Umahi, who allegedly rejected the already announced results of the Anambra State governorship election, said the poll was tainted with irregularities.
He was alleged to have accused his Anambra State counterpart, Willie Obiano, and APGA’s governorship candidate, Charles Soludo of rigging the poll.
3. Jigawa Hisbah arrests 47, seizes 745 bottles of beer
The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has arrested 47 suspects, including 16 females for alleged involvement in immoral acts.
The Hisbah Commandant in the state, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru confirmed the arrest in a chat with reporters yesterday in Dutse, the state capital.
Dahiru said the suspects, including 16 suspected commercial sex workers, were apprehended following a series of raids at beer parlours, brothels and other black spots across 11 local government areas of the state.
4. SSANU, NASU protest in UNN over unpaid wages, allowances
The non-teaching staff in University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) under the aegis of Joint Action Committe (JAC) on Thursday staged a peaceful protest demanding arrears of minimum wage and earned allowances.
The Committee threatened to shut down UNN by embarking on an indefinite strike after Nov. 15, if their members failed to receive their pay.
5. Liberia vs Nigeria: Ighalo finally reacts as Rohr brings him back to Super Eagles squad
Former Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo, has finally expressed happiness to be back in the Super Eagles squad after leaving the team three years ago.
Ighalo has been included in Nigeria’s squad for their 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde on November 13 and 16, respectively.
The 32-year-old arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Morocco from his base in Saudi Arabia on Thursday afternoon.
6. IPOB orders arrest of Monday sit-at-home enforcers
The Indigenous People of Biafra has ordered the arrest of Monday sit-at-home enforcers in the South-East.
The Media and Publicity Secretary of the secessionist group, Emma Power, gave the directive on Thursday in a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State.
He wondered why some people would continue to enforce an order that was long cancelled by IPOB.
He called on community and religious leaders in the region to devise ways to arrest such hoodlums and hand them over to IPOB authorities in the localities.
7. Akeredolu orders curfew in Igbara-Oke over violent protest
Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has ordered the imposition of a twenty-four hour curfew on Igbara-Oke, the headquarters of Ifedore Local Government Area of the State.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde, made this known on Thursday in a statement titled, ‘Curfew Imposed on Igbara-Oke’.
According to the statement, the curfew was as a result of violent activities that took place during a protest after a councillorship bye-election in the town.
8. Lawan Woos Abia governor, Ikpeazu into APC, Says APC is waiting for him
AHEAD of 2023 general and Presidential elections, President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan is wooing  the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  into the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, saying that the progressives are waiting for him.
Speaking at a Grand Civic Reception in honour of Prince Paul Ikonne who is the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authourity( NALDA), Lawan who  extolled the virtues of the Governor who is of the PDP, said  that he is already a progressive in heart and actions.
9. Real reason I pushed for direct primaries – Speaker Gbajabiamila
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, has explained why he pushed for direct primaries as the only method through which political parties should elect candidates to stand for elections.
The Speaker said direct primaries would bring more accountability and adequate representation as political office holders would not be restricted to pleasing a group of few people selected as delegates, but would work for the interest of the generality of their party members, and by extension, the electorate.
Besides, Gbajabiamila said he observed that many Nigerians, especially the youths, want to participate fully in the election of those that would represent them, right from the grassroots level, hence his resolve to champion direct primaries.
10. 16% of Americans say they have ever invested in, traded or used cryptocurrency
The vast majority of U.S. adults have heard at least a little about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ether, and 16% say they personally have invested in, traded or otherwise used one, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. Men ages 18 to 29 are particularly likely to say they have used cryptocurrencies.
