The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association Building was destroyed by fire on Sunday.

The school administration stated on its Twitter page that the problem had been resolved.

According to management, the state fire service agency responded quickly to the fire incident that occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

“The fire incident that occurred at the UNILAG Alumni Association Building about 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2022 has been effectively extinguished,” according to the statement.

“The fire was quickly checked by Fire Service authorities when it was noticed by security operatives at the scene.” This timely response saved the building from further damage.

“The impacted area has been roped off for further examination.”

“Members of the University Community and the wider public are hereby assured that there was no fatality and that the situation is completely under control.”

Meanwhile, social media footage shows thick smoke pouring out of the GTB Bank building on the Akoka campus.
