1. No reported case of Cholera outbreak in Anambra – NMA boss
Dr Jide Onyekwulu, Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Anambra Chapter, said there is no outbreak of cholera in the state.
Onyekwulu, a full time medical practitioner and a private clinical medical practitioner, called on the state government to revive the water system in the state to avoid the outbreak of cholera.
He said this in an interview with The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Monday.
He said that Anambra is lucky not to have recorded a case of cholera since its outbreak in the country, saying it was reported in Enugu, Delta ,Bayelsa and other parts of the country.
2. APC explains why Zamfara Ward Congress Committee suspended
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has explained that it temporarily suspended the activities of Zamfara Ward Congress Committee because it received intelligence reports on it.
Sen. John Akpanudodehe, National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), gave the explanation in a statement on Monday, in Abuja.
Akpanudodehe said this, while reacting to comments made in a section of the media by one of the party’s chieftains in the state.
3. NGX begins new week with N12bn loss
The Nigerian stock market started the week on a negative note with a loss of N12 billion due to price losses in some highly capitalised stocks.
This is just as the Nigeria’s headline inflation decelerated for the seventh consecutive month to 15.99 per cent year-on-year in October.
Specifically, the market capitalisation which opened at N22.572 trillion shed N12 billion or 0.05 per cent to close at N22.560 trillion.
Also, the All-Share Index lost 21.67 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 43,230.34 from 43,252.01 achieved on Friday.
Accordingly, the month-to-date and year-to-date gains moderated to 2.8 per cent and 7.4 per cent, respectively.
4. Kwara fire service recovers corpse from ASA river in llorin
Kwara Fire Service recovered a corpse from Asa River in Ilorin on Monday.
Mr Hassan Adekunle, Head, Media and Publicity Department of the Service said a resident alerted the Service to the gory site.
5. Jos residents want review of closing hour for “keke” riders
The residents of Jos have called on the government of Plateau to extend the present 6.p m. daily closing time for tricycle (Keke Napep) riders in the state capital to 9 p.m.
Some of the residents made the demand in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Jos.
6. Troops eliminate over 50 terrorists in Askira-Uba encounter – Army
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralised more than 50 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the recent counter offensive in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Monday, in Abuja.
Nwachukwu said that the counter offensive led to the killing of top commanders of ISWAP and many of their foot soldiers.
7. Basketball: Rivers Hoopers beat Nigeria Custom 85-75 to reach final
Rivers Hoopers basketball team on Monday defeated Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) 85-76 to secure a ticket to the final match of the the ongoing 2021 Super Eight men’s premier Basketball League.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the first semi final match played at the package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja saw Rivers Nigeria Custom winning the first two quarters by 15-11 and 24-22.
Rivers Hoopers bounced back to take the lead in the last two quarters by 29-15 and 23-22 to win the match and have a final score of 85-76.
8. Ebonyi: Centre screens 21,209 civical, breast cancer patients since 2010 – MD
Dr Johnson Obuna, the Medical Director, National Obstetric Fistula Centre in Ebonyi, said the centre had screened at least 21, 209 cervical and breast cancer patients since 2010.
Obuna made the disclosure on Monday, when the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi Council, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abakaliki.
He said the center also screened 1,273 prostate cancer patients during the period.
9. We use modern technology to fight insecurity says Ganduje
Kano State Governor Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has stated that his administration has deployed modern technology gadgets such as CCTV to tackle the challenges of insecurity and ensure safety of its citizens and their properties.
Represented by his Deputy Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna,the Governor disclosed this on Monday when he received the General Officer Commanding of the One Division of Nigerian Army Kaduna, Major General Kabiru Imam Muktar who paid him a visit at the Government House, Kano.
10. COVID-19: Over 3m Nigerians fully vaccinated – NPHCDA
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) says more than three million eligible Nigerians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Executive Director, NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib, said this at the bi-weekly briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on Monday in Abuja.
The over three million vaccinated Nigerians were vaccinated eight months after the country started the vaccination of its citizens against coronavirus.
