The Kebbi state Chapter Chairman of National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Aliyu Haliru Bunza has called on youths of Kebbi state to use the lessons learnt during Ramadan by abstaining from hard drugs intake and alcoholism.
While giving Sallah message to the teaming of youths in Kebbi, Bunza said drug addiction has become a source of worry to the country as it has been the fuel flaming banditry, kidnapping, rape, and suicides.
He added that 40% of those who committed suicide are youth from both male and female genders.
Bunza urged both the state and the federal government to give priority to youths by engaging them through self employments assisted by the government.
He applauded efforts made by the wife of the governor Dr. Zainab Bagudu for engaging the female gender through various empowerment programmes geared towards reducing girl-child prostitution, particularly minors whom he said were dragged into fornication due to high level of poverty and joblessness.
While commending the federal government for its various social intervention programmes which he said lots of youths have benefitted.
The NYCN Kebbi Chairman explained that the youth’s body is stiffly worried over the recruitments of able-bodied youths into banditry and Boko haram. He warned that until measures are taken youths’ restiveness will persist.
He condoled those who lost their loved ones in Zuru emirate while commending governor Bagudu for his handling of banditry in the state and urged him to do more by ridding the state of criminal elements.
