Speakers of northern states houses of Assembly have been charged to wear their thinking cap to tackle the insecurity that threatens the agrarian community of the region.

Speaking on the backdrop of the insecurity that has taken a toll on the northern region, Chairman of the Northerner’s speakers, Rt. Honourable Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has charged its counterparts to wear their thinking cap in tackling the menace as it continues to threaten the agrarian community of the region.

Zailani made this charge in a statement signed by his SA Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, while giving his welcome remarks at the 2nd Regional Conference Meeting In Kaduna, which comprises Speakers of the 19 Northern states houses of Assembly.

He noted the Worsening security situation leads to the impoverishment of more of the northern people through the high cost of staple food items, rising due to scarcity resulting from farmers’ fears, “Our farmers are afraid of going to farm over apprehension of being kidnapped or even killed”.

Similarly, Frowned at the insecurity which has characterised the region, Zailani said he would have been most delighted to welcome the Speakers of the Houses of Assembly of the 19 Northern States.

“So I would simply welcome you to Kaduna for this important meeting,”

Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, who doubles as the chairman of the forum, lamented that things in their region and Nigeria on insecurity are worrisome.

“Frequent attacks and abductions threaten our educational growth at institutions of learning,” he added.

He, therefore, challenged the meeting to come up with workable suggestions that will tackle the twin problems of poverty and insecurity bedevilling the region.

“This is a serious threat to food security and our mostly agrarian community.

Zailani charged they must rise to the occasion, put on their thinking caps and proffer realistic solutions.
