Since the return of Democracy kito Nigeria in 1999, Kano state has been under the leadership of three respected sons of the state.

In 1999, Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso was first elected governor of the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, Kwankwaso lost his second bid in 2003 to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau of the debunk All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), who served two consecutive tenures to 2011.

Again, Engineer Kwankwaso re-contested and won election for his 2nd Term till 2015 when the incumbent Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was then deputy to Kwankwaso contested for governor and won election under the All Progressives Congress in 2015. Ganduje re-contested for his second tenure and won in 2019.

It may surprised readers to know that, the current APC Governotorial candidate, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and his running mate, Hon. Murtala Sule Garo have worked under the three governors in different capacities with full loyalty and respect to their bosses.

Under the first tenure of Kwankwaso, Gawuna was the chairman of Nasarawa local government and he also held the same position for 8 years, through the two tenures of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

Gawuna was first appointed as commissioner by Engineer Kwankwaso, and he continued as commissioner under the first and 2nd tenure of governor Ganduje until when his then deputy Professor Hafiz Abubakar resigned and Gawuna was nominated for the position towards ending of Ganduje’s first tenure.

Again Ganduje retained Nasiru Gawuna as running mate in 2019 till date, and above all Ganduje pointed Gawuna as his preferred candidate to succeed him in 2023.

Gawuna’s running mate, Hon. Garo is an experienced administrator who served as chairman of Kabo Local Government area from in 2014 before vacating his position to accept appointment as commissioner for Local Government under Ganduje-led administration.

Earlier, Hon. Garo served as political adviser to Engineer Kwankwaso during his 2nd tenure.

So for these and other reasons, all the three political groups in Kano, have some respect to the candidates of the ruling APC in Kano .

Going by their political antecedents, the two people filled by the APC in Kano to fly it’s flag for 2023 Goveenoship election are love by all and hate by none.

They are the best set of candidates filled by APC who have respect for Kano elders, politicians, business Community, academia, religious leaders as well as the traditional leaders.

And for the general public, Gawuna/Garo ticket is the best for Kano, economically, socially, politically and religiously.

This is why Kano people are describing the Kano APC Governotorial ticket as ”the philanthropists and humanitarian ticket”
